πŸš—πŸ’¨ MEET THE TEAM - PURPLE SECTOR RACING πŸš—πŸ’¨

In this instalment of the Meet The Team series, we get to know a team that is very active not only in the virtual space, but also within many of the Western Cape Malls and surrounds, with their pop up Sim Racing experiences catering to various communities in their goal to make Sim Racing more accessible to all.

We introduce to you, Team Purple Sector Racing/Experience.

Once upon a time, in the enchanting city of Cape Town, four young adventurers embarked on a digital odyssey. These brave souls, each a master of the virtual racetrack, found themselves locked in fierce competition in the world of Sim Racing. Their battleground was the exhilarating realm of Gran Turismo 7, where they raced not just for glory, but for the sheer thrill of the chase.

Fate, with its mysterious ways, brought them together on the vast plains of PlayStation Network. After countless races and epic duels, they decided to extend a virtual hand of friendship. To their astonishment, they discovered that they all lived within the same vibrant city. The stars had aligned, and a real-life meeting was inevitable.

When they finally met, it was as if they had known each other for lifetimes. They shared stories, laughter, and a passion for racing that transcended the digital divide. Their bond was instant and unbreakable. However, the shadow of COVID-19 loomed large, and the traditional blood pact was out of the question.

Undeterred, they devised a plan to solidify their newfound brotherhood.

They would form a Sim Racing team, a testament to their shared love and camaraderie. And so, Purple Sector Racing was born, a team destined to leave its mark on the virtual tracks of Gran Turismo 7. Together, they raced towards the horizon, united by friendship and a relentless pursuit of speed. πŸš—πŸ’¨

Now in their 2nd year of racing, they have since grown, signing on 4 additional drivers who compete in various leagues both Virtually and at various LANs, and the core group, Naeem, Nadeem, Aashiq and Rezha, further expanded their shared love for Sim Racing by co-founding the Purple Sector Racing Experience.

The core idea of the group is to make Sim Racing be more accessible and affordable to all. The team can be found on most weekends, at various public spaces with one or two Sim Racing setups consisting of the frame and racing seat, Logitech G923s and PS5s playing the latest updates of Gran Turismo 7, available and accessible to the public.

After much success, they've further grown the experience to be made available at corporate and private events, amassing a cult following on Instagram of their regular customers, keeping up to date on their next event to try win the various prizes on offer, and also inspiring the new generation of drivers putting every penny that they can together to purchase their own personal setups and join the virtually world.

One can say, they are doing the work of the Gods.

Apart from their weekend real-world antics, the PSR team is a formidable presence in the virtual racing world.

Always available online, they compete fiercely against both local and international competitors.
