Gran Turismo South Africa Drivers Face Tokyo’s Ultimate Challenge!

The Final Showdown: Gran Turismo South Africa Drivers Face Tokyo’s Ultimate Challenge!

In a dramatic climax to the season, the Gran Turismo South Africa drivers took on the Tokyo Expressway in the Nation Cup Final last night. The streets were alive with the roar of engines and the flash of headlights as drivers navigated the treacherous weather conditions in their sleek Redbull X2014 Junior cars.

The high-speed circuit, notorious for its twists and turns, became a battlefield. Some drivers emerged victorious, while others were left battered and bruised from relentless contact with the walls. The dizzying speeds and sharp maneuvers left many grappling with vertigo, a testament to the sheer intensity of the race.

This electrifying event was a stark contrast to the lawn mowing spectacle at Goodwood Circuit by their Manufacturers league counterparts just a week earlier. The Tokyo Expressway race was a thrilling end to a season filled with highs, lows, and unforgettable moments. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ️

With this, having been a combination chosen by the infamous Steven Berry, it proved a challenge for all the drivers, with it being a Late Reveal combo, drivers were tasked to head to track and be met with an unknown car, and unknown race settings.

This showed, in the strategies that were run, along with the inclement weather conditions, of which separated the experienced, from the casual racers.

Pool 1
Pool 1 was a mix of fortune, as was seen on Youtube Livestream. With Qualifying having been done in the wet, drivers wrestled with their machines to keep them pointing the correct direction, to get a respectable time, and track position to begin the race with.

In the end, we saw some new faces shine, and our championship contenders, either fall short, or taking the pressure off themselves this week in prep for the finale.

Jenson J of the SAM racing team outsmarted the Grid, and took the chequered flag first, closely followed by a determined SMP3_Pro in second place, and a surprised MGR_Lek'wera taking the final podium spot.

Unfortunately, there was not much coverage of the additional Pools, as the late reveal caused havoc with the media team attempting to get emergency visas that were ultimately denied.

The various pool chats, had shown that many of the drivers were very happy with the car choice, the combo and the racing they had experienced on the circuit, with some requesting that a full season of the Redbull X2014 junior be placed on the cards for future Gran Turismo South Africa seasons.

Safe to say, Steven Berry specials are still either a massive hit or disappointing miss, true to form.

Nonetheless, below is the results of the latter pools.

Pool 6

Results for Pool 6 are not available as the race unfortunately not taken place due to the drivers not having had a host and stewards available to conduct the race.

As the dust settles on the Tokyo Expressway, the Gran Turismo South Africa drivers now set their sights on the Wildcard races and the Showdown finale. The air is thick with anticipation as the final results are eagerly awaited.

In just two weeks, the top 5 contenders from both the Manufacturers League and Nations League, based on their stellar performances throughout the season, will secure their spots in the Showdown finale. But the journey doesn’t end there. The next 7 contenders from each league will face off in the Wildcard race, a fierce battle to determine the final 5 qualifiers for the grand finale. For those who don’t make the cut, an early off-season break awaits.

The racing season is far from over, and the climax is just around the corner. Excitement is brewing in the paddock, with whispers of a fruitful off-season for the GTSA community. Rumors suggest that other communities are showing interest in hosting events, giving drivers more opportunities to prove their mettle.

The GTSA admins have promised to keep everyone updated with the latest news on Discord and the GTSA website. As the season draws to a close for some and the final stretch begins for others, one question remains:

Who will be crowned the next GTSA champion?๐Ÿšฅ๐Ÿ
